An unusual presentation of this regal, elegant undersea creature. The expected blues and greens are replaced with the fiery, warm colors of the Sun. The Mer-Lion holds in one paw a Sun-Scepter, while resting the other paw on a shell-shaped vignette of an unknown world. Much of the detail in the piece is created by Susan's use of her sgraffito technique. A beautiful early work. This original piece has been re-framed with an antiqued gilt fillet and frame, re-matted with acid-free materials and re-glazed w/conservation clear UV glass.
